HERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT ME ...

AmyCunningham-5667.jpg

Hey! I'm Amy

a wife, mother, grandmother, certified yoga instructor, and most of all, a follower of Christ! At Beside Still Waters, my purpose is to guide you towards a life full of peace, meaning, and the abundant love of God through yoga and wellness coaching.

I want to get to know each and every one of the people I work with, so I can meet their needs and provide them with an environment where they can heal, grow, and connect with the Lord. I believe life should be cherished and enjoyed - we should love the body we were given, and hopefully, use that body to glorify God and His kingdom!

Because I’d love to get to know you and your story, it’s only fair I’d share mine too! My journey toward Christian yoga started many years ago when I began struggling with chronic illness. As a businesswoman with a long background in sales and marketing, I lived a life trying to balance my individual success and my time with family. I overworked myself, I had no sleep schedule, and I neglected my health. It wasn’t long before that all caught up to me, and I began dealing with a slew of autoimmune diseases, narcolepsy, and chronic fatigue.

Wanting to escape the stressful environment of the business world, I decided to work with my local church as communications director. There I met many great people and grew in my faith, but my sickness only worsened over time. Even though I separated myself from my previous career, the consequences of my lifestyle kept returning.

It was then that God finally decided to tell me to slow me down. My chronic fatigue completely took me out. Most days, I couldn’t even leave my bed. Every doctor I went to told me the same thing - chronic fatigue is incurable. If there’s one thing you need to know about me, though, it’s that I am and will always be a fighter. It simply wasn’t an option for me to accept it and miss out on my life and the lives of my kids!

It was a long road of prayer and frustration while I searched for ways to treat my illness, but it was then that I first experienced yoga and what it can do for your body and mind. I started out small, just watching online videos to get a feel for it.

That was when I truly started to see some progress. Through yoga, eating better, and seeking out holistic doctors, I finally began to feel like myself. I developed a love for the practice of yoga, and I sought out official instruction with YogaFaith to start my path towards forming this service. I can’t wait to share with you all that I’ve learned so that it can have a positive impact on your health, faith, and mindset! Please reach out and contact me so we can get in touch!

Forever moving by being forever still in Him

Beliefs

My faith is the center of my life and my services - it represents how I live and teach. As a non-denominational Protestant Christian, I believe that there is only one true God eternally existing in three equally divine yet distinct forms - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit - who know, love, and glorify one another in complete harmony. As the Lord above all, God creates, sustains, and rules over everyone and everything with perfect love, wisdom, and power, and is worthy of worship.

I believe that God has made Himself known through the world He has created, the words He has spoken, and the Son He has sent to us. Through the Holy Spirit’s guidance over human words, God is revealed in the Bible, which tells a unified story of his gracious work in human history. As God’s Word, the Bible is true, authoritative, and necessary for a connection to God and His world, and is the foundation for all of my essential beliefs and practices.

I believe that Jesus is the son of the living God, the Messiah who sacrificed His life for our sins and returned 3 days after His crucifixion to fulfill God’s promise in the Old Testament. Through Christ, we all are saved, and only those who believe in Him can live an eternal life in Heaven. I believe that all people, from every place and age who have been rescued by Christ, are united together in His universal Church.

Finally, I believe that Jesus will return to fully establish His kingdom on earth, rightly judge all people, fix what is wrong in creation, and live with His people forever. As we wait in hope for the renewed heavens and earth, we partner now with the Holy Spirit in bringing transformation into every aspect of our lives.

If you want to learn more about my beliefs, please feel free to contact me or my church - CrossRoads Christian Church and we’d love to share the Good News with you!
